| Yutenji Temple was founded in 1723. The 36th buddhist monk of Zojoji temple Yuten died in 1718 and one of his disciples, Yumi built the Yutenji temple as his shrine and made him the founder. It is a Jodo Sect Buddhism temple located in the southwestern part of Tokyo at Yutenji, Meguro-ku. It survived the WW II and thus conserves the complex created before the war. |
| Edo Firemen's Annual Memorial Service At Yutenji Temple in Yutenji, Meguro-ku Date: April 29, Time: 11 a.m. The event moved from Sensoji Temple in Asakusa to Yutenji Temple in Meguro-ku in 2016 The event is the memorial service for the 120 firemen who lost their lives in firefightings from the Edo period to the early Showa. Following the memorial service, a parade of "matoi" - traditional firemen's standard bearers and "hashigo nori" - acrobatic performances on bamboo ladders by the Edo Firemen's Culture Preservation Group.
