NIKON PLAZA, SHINJUKU Nikon Photo Salon was first opened in 1968 in Ginza commemorating the 50th anniversary of the company. The opening exhibiton was Kimura Ihei. Since then the salon has contributed to the spread of photographic culture by offering a free exhibition space to aspiring artists. In 1971, Shinjuku Nikon Salon was opened and in Osaka in 1974. . In summer 2017, Nikon Photo Salon was renewed and was renamed Nikon Plaza. CANON GALLERY, SHINAGAWA Japan's first 35mm focal-plane shutter rangefinder camera was introduced into the market in 1935. This all started in a small streetside shop in Tokyo, the "Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory," to produce the prototype camera called "Kwanon," which later evolved into the "Hansa Canon."This is the origin of Canon's camera making which steady steps for Canon cameras were initiated here.
